So, I have a roo issue that I'm hoping someone could advise me on. I ended up with two EE roos that were supposed to have been pullets. They are now about 14 weeks old and the dominant one is such a pistol! He's terrorizing all the girls every chance he gets. Tearing out neck feathers and they scream to get away. The pullets are only 14 weeks old too so they apparently aren't "Into that" yet.

Truth is I don't NEED any roosters and realize they will eventually just be feed hogs.

Is this normal behavior for this age? Will he mellow out soon or would I better off just to get rid of him?

He also bit me a couple of days ago too then just stood there, I think in as much shock as I was! I smacked him and he ran away. Is that a precursor to future behavior?

Here's the offender....

And the non-dominant roo...

Yeah, most roosters act like that at that age. If you don't need any roosters than you should get rid of them. Your hens will be a lot happier.

Usually roosters will get aggressive and peck people; my Leghorn rooster pecked me once and he'll chase people if they start to run. If you did want to have a rooster, it would be better to just have one because as they get older they start to fight each other.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I do have a 4 week old cuckoo maran Roo and from what I 'hear', they tend to be good Roos. So maybe I'll get rid of these two EE's and keep the maran. I have two maran pullets I'd like to have little chicks from eventually so I guess that makes more sense anyway.
