Rooster keeps escaping

They're still young... once they finish fully growing up, 3.5 ft isn't going to be a deterrent. I have outside roost bars in my run that are at probably 4 to 4.5 ft. My big girls can't get up there, but most of the other ones can, and they often go up there, if nothing else, to get away from the big girls sometimes.

I had a light brahma pullet that would fly up to roost on our bbq which was 4 feet off the ground.

Some of my birds, including some standards, roost eight feet up in the coop rafters.

If you don't want to permanently cover your run you could drape plastic netting over it. Just a thought...

Wow wouldn't you think a chicken would be smart enough to avoid that particular area?!

It probably just started because his hormone flow is kicking in big time.
Taller fence and block off top of coop, and anything else, that gives him a leg up.
Pics of your coop and run would help us help you to find a solution.

First thing you can do is get the coop as far away from all fences as possible.
Still might need higher fence.
Only 3 birds in that coop?
