Ok so I have a rooster and and a hen in a cage that I used to use to house my rabbit. Well I pulled the feeder out and that left a 2”x 6” hole in the cage. Yesterday I go to feed them and my rooster is dead and I see all kinda feathers outside the cage, but it isn’t my roosters or hens. Could an owl possibly have gotten its talons inside the cage and killed it? I’m lost as to what happen. I do hear an owl hooting at night in the area that’s why I think it may be an owl.

If there are feathers that are not from your chickens than a bird of prey is probably the culprit. Could be an owl or hawk. Does your dead bird have marks or blood on it? A chicken can die from the stress or even break their neck jumping about.

I had once seen a rooster disturbed by me at dusk fly off the roost and break their neck flying into a wall, same thing happened to a parakeet I had when my brother went to say hi to it and it flew into the side of it's cage.

These are the feathers I found outside the cage, there are a lot of them and I went find my bird againnto double check, no blood and no markings on him
