Draw and quarter then post on the four corners of your property as a warning to others.
I though about setting him as an effigy, I know that deters owls at least, although the "UFO" I hung was gone by morning, but there doesnt seem to be any research that suggests coons are deterred by dead coon corpses

shhhhh_keep_it_down_walking_dead.gif

I think you meant "dog". Ya dog sounds not federally protected.

how about UFO? I edited it
Anyway Im to this day over a year later amazed at the shot I hit on the UFO. my chicken pen was broken down, so the chickens were everywhere, and they roosted at night on the rail of the deck.
a ufo landed on top of my biggest rooster, to abduct him, but it settled for ripping his head off instead.
before it could do that I heard it and grabbed the 22 and went out
I saw him there attacking the poor massive RIR rooster on the planks, and he saw me too.
Now I dont do competition shooting. I dont do hip fire. I dont do quickdraw.
But I did all 3
With a rifle
When the UFO started flying away, I swung the weapon up and fired from the hip, pure reflex, never done quickdraw or hip fire before, and completely disconnected its left wing
(this kind of UFO has wings)
I noticed he was a very great and also horned? horny? nope stayin with horned UFO which the government probably wouldnt like. I didnt know what it was until it was already dead, or protection statur.
Totally unaware the gov was covering for the aliens on that one
anyway somehting stole it by morning after I hung it as an effigy

This is just anecdotal but an exterminator told me that when frightened or injured a coon will give off a scent to warn others not to go that direction. So he might have already done that just by being trapped. I know the last trap we set didn’t get revisited and I assume for that reason…also the neighbor kids caught one and dispatched it slowly with a BB gun in the same area 🤦‍♀️

I put on thick leather gloves and grabbed him behind the neck and set him on a stump and used the axe.
He didnt deserve a bullet
If it was a skunk I would tie a rope to the trap and throw it in the pond
