Rooster killed

Well looks like the younglings time has come.

we have our established group of chickens (50/50 mix Rhode Island Red and Black Austrolop). Few months ago we decided Austrolops were not working for us (always broody, free range poorly compared to the Rhode Island Reds etc) and that we we would hatch a bunch of Rhode Island Red eggs.

we hatched a bunch. Few got killed by hawks. Remaining ones are doing great. We now have five young Rhode Island Red roosters that appear to have now got the attention of our existing rooster.
anyway this morning we found one of the younglings dead in the coop. No serious injustices. Looks like a few scratches on Vinny (our current established roo)

im guessing he knocked off the baby roo in the night. So tomorrow time for the others to go to freezer camp.

Few things that were surprising to me, I looked at the dead roo and did not see a whole lot of damage. I’m guessing maybe his neck was broken. Is this normal? I had a look at Vinny and I see he had a scratch on his comb and his tummy. Otherwise couldn’t really see much.

when they are outside the hens chase the baby roos around. The baby Roos give Vinny a lot of space. I have not seen them fighting ever. I have seen the baby Roos pushing each other around a bit but nothing too serious.
