I have 5 australorps, posted a couple of weeks ago because I was told they were all female when I got them and was pretty sure one was a roo. I am now convinced that he is a roo, though I still refer to it as "her" half of the time. Should probaby stop before I give it a complex. I am pretty convinced that I have a second rooster, perhaps just a little younger, even though it is bigger. It looks somewhere in between the hens and the rooster, and is bigger than all of them. The problem with this theory is that I have three that I KNOW are hens, and generally get 3-4 eggs a day. So my question is, do I have a transgendered hen-roo, or is it more likely that I have a hen that lays more than one a day??? I read that they're supposed to produce every 25 hours, so it shouldnt be possible, but I'm pretty confused at this point!
