I currently live in Flower Mound on 8 Acres of community property where multiple of us have roosters Flower Mound came and issued a complaint for my roosters today however I noticed real quickly but nothing was ever said about my neighbor's roosters or the rest of the cross the street I told them they were only temporarily that I would be taking them to Colorado they said they would be checking back with me however I don't see how they're going to make me buds 2 Fast considering they can't keep a vicious dog up off of the street which by the way has already bitten me twice should it become too much of an issue for me I may have to look into taking some more to Legal measures

Just collar your roosters. Buy baby socks and 2.5" velcro. Cut velcro to 6" piece. Put the sticky sides of the 2 velcro pieces together. Round the corners with scissors.. Cut toes off baby sock. Slide onto chicken's neck as low as possible. Secure velcro tightly over sock leaving enough room to breathe and eat normally but not enough to crow at full volume. Problem solved. You can't go "but the neighbors...". Gotta worry about you and yours 🤷🏼‍♀️

Purchase a rooster collar online, or hide it in your private property 😂 gotta do what ya gotta do 🤣 🐓

I am thinking of moving from house I bought in 86 to have roosters. anyone live where there is no issue legally? I thought Texas had some ordinance making backyard chickens legal everywhere but not sure. when I bought I was to incorporated and poultry was but now that I am annexed I am a criminal. I want to be able to have a rooster or two without grief.

Every individual town makes their own rules, and zoning. Where I live, chickens OK, but roosters are not. 2 adjacent suburbs, Franklin park, and Northlake ban both chickens and ducks. Chicago, that is so Metro-advanced and populated with small yards allows roosters as long as neighbors do not complain about nuisance noise.
Generally, if you are in rural area, there are no restrictions. Check first since those wannabe tough politicians do like to push their authority even in those sparsely populated areas.
There is no state that allows roosters statewide that I know of. They leave decisions to individual jurisdictions.

Wishing you best MaryAlice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

Where are you located? I would check the regulations to 1. see if roos are allowed, 2. see if you would be grandfathered in if the rules changed. Next, I would check with the neighbors and see if they have been cited as well. If they have not, then the next step is to contact your county commissioner or supervisor and ask why you have been singled out. Then, If it is only you, I would inform said commissioner or supervisor your intent to file charges against the county and them personally since they are in charge, of harrassment and discrimination as well as you would be notifying the local news media. Then do it. No politician likes to see his name in the paper connected to harrassment and discrimination. If all of your neighbors have been cited also then that is a different set of circumstances.

In my younger and more “passionate” days I was being picked on by a few neighbors and a city code person over having having very little grass and a front yard that was landscaped with native drought resistant plants/trees.

There was a city ordinance requiring grass. It was a poor little city and many people had dirt yards or patches. I am not sure why I was the chosen one.

I simply refused to comply. I would stop (4 times) when I saw the code persons personal car (small town, he lived 3 blocks away) and would be a jerk. And ask him to explain himself to his companions and to other customers of a store. I also said some naughty things.

I took several violations to the muni court and the code person didn’t show up and they were dismissed. I never heard from the code person again, but one of the county deputy’s told me the decision was made to drop it by the city council because of safety. I played pick up basketball with 2 of the city council and they never mentioned it. I moved about 18 months later.

I don’t like getting pushed around, but realize if you escalate in a creative manner, expect a reaction that might be negative for you.

Is chicken keeping your rubicon? I am more willing to compromise on certain things as I get older, but property rights aren’t up for debate.

I am in violation of my current city’s chicken ordinance right now. My chicken keeping has zero impact on my neighbors. I don’t need a permit or inspection to keep chickens, no matter what the city says. I won’t pay a fine. I’ll take it to court. I know they don’t show up most of the time. City police won’t show for non criminal infractions like traffic.

Thankfully the chickens will soon be out in the county. Virtually no rules at that point.
