One of my roosters is losing his comb. It never turned black and doesn't look necrotic it's just disappearing. These pictures were taking 2 weeks apart the second is a screenshot of a video.
Where do you live? Is it cold? That looks like the damage that comes from frostbite in cold weather. The tips that were affected will usually round off just like your pictures. It can take a month or so for this to show up.
The cloudy eyes are an illusion. I live in Montpelier Virginia. It's been 90+ days with ~80 nights. I don't recall seeing any frost the last couple days. No health issues just all of a sudden poof, his comb was gone. They weren't pecked or ripped off as I would have seen blood or scabs. I spend enough time with them daily to know when somethings up with one of em. He is old, 5 or 6 years old. I didn't know if they "lose" their comb when they get older
