And my big brahmas run to greet me but to catch them I use trickery (they dont fight bring held only the polish in just got and the ones I dont hsndle alot get all squirmy)

Oh, handsome boy!

Does he have a nice nature? I have heard some RIR roos can be a little aggressive.

Surely not this handsome boy though

I don't let him. I have handled him from day one, not realizing then he was a roo but he just had a hold me personality. LOL But even now I will go in and pick him up and hold him at last once a week and if he even looks like he wants to be tough I put him up. My kids also go out there and inter act with him and the other RIR roo I have, Mostly Slow Joe, is his name. LOL So they are nothing like some of the ones I have read about.

Thats good to know so far mine are sweet I enjoy them. My birds are free range I am still surprised my little roo will follow everywhere I go in the yard. Most will come visit for treats or water or to see what I bring. But the one roo just follows.

Ohhh that is so sweet!! I love that. The Colonel will drop one wing and kind of walk fast towards me in the morning.... kind of like he has a football tucked under his wing and he is fixing to run with it... it is so funny looking but I figured out he is wanting me to pet him but still trying to be on his guard. So I can get one good petting stroke in and then he runs backwards and then in a few he comes at me again. Maybe trying not to look like he wants the attention but he REALLY does. LOL

My birds give me a level of happiness that I can't explain.... but I guess all my animals do. My kids are 25, 19 and 18 so my mother hen skills have had to go to the animals. LOL And my grand daughter when I get to see her. LOL

This is my Silkie Roo.... Cluck Norris He is about 12 weeks in this photo, he is 14 weeks now.

This is Jacques my Black Copper Maran I'm not sure how old he is. They were given to my by a friend that new I was wanting this breed. I can tell he is some what younger than my other chickens so I figure he is about 14 weeks maybe. Not sure.

I try to name my birds based on where they come from.... RIR southern names and BCM are French so they have French names. LOL The Silkies are my future DIL and she named him. LOL

Cute! I love your silky.... I havent really named mine. My ameraucana turned welsummer is named hoodini she kept escaping her cage. My broody I call momma my 2 frizzle mr and mrs frizzle but people have come up with wonderful names on here...even the roo that loves me I call him little roo. And my 3 young naked necks I call them bitties. Has nothing to do with dont name the birds if you plan to eat them.....I dont even call our cat by its name!

I just read this thread and am glad to hear the wing-drop dance is an amorous one. Igor started doing it a couple of weeks ago and I was afraid he was challenging my dominant bossy hen (she has attitude and will peck at everyone... even Igor). Now I know he just has a crush on her. The poor thing would like him back if he'd stop jumping on her and pulling out her neck feathers. :)
