So I have never had a rooster and have had to deal with this... Sorry if it's a dumb question. I had a "pullet" who after 3 months we realized.. Was not. We found him a home, and am dropping him off tomorrow, BUT, this morning we saw him jump on and mate with our small silkie hen who is about 1 year old. We thought since he is not full grown, has no spurs, barely tail feathers, slightly smaller than our year old Rhode Island Red hens it might not be a big deal. We separated him for the time being, but my husband noticed her picking at her vent and it looked like there was clear/cloudy goo coming out. We were wondering if this could be sperm, or if it could have broke an egg in her, can mating do that? Should I be concerned? This just happened so we have not noticed a change in behavior or eating. Thoughts?

It definitely seems the most logical. It just suprized me cause I wouldn't expect them to do that at 3 months old!! And it happened about 12 hours after we separated him. I wasn't sure how normal that was! Thanks!

I would keep an eye on her for the next couple of days in case she is developing vent gleet, a fungal or yeast infection. Sometimes they will have a continuous dripping of whitish liquid that will have a bad odor, and usually there is a bare area of skin with white patches around the vent. Here is some info on vent gleet: http://www.tillysnest.com/2012/12/vent-gleet-prevention-and-treatment.html
