Rooster needed for a hen to go broody?

I would love to have a broody hen. Does a rooster improve the odds of a hen going broody? Someone at a farmers market said something about the hormones released during mating encourages broodiness
 
What breeds of chickens do you have? Most production layers have had broodiness breed basically completely out of them. If you want some broody hens I would suggest picking breeds know for broodiness. Things like cochins and silkies are the two most common, but there are other breeds.. I just had a cochin pullet hatch out her first clutch of eggs and there are no roosters on my property. I have a friend who had 4 roosters on her property last summer and was disappointed that none of her girls became broody because she wanted to hatch some of her eggs. Hope that helps.
 
We have two grey cochins, a black asterlope and two mongrels. Here is a picture. The amber one is a cochin/easter egger mix and I believe the white is a leghorn cross
