Rooster not doing his job.

I have a black copper Marans rooster who is about 1almost 2 years old who refuses to watch his hens. My hens free range in the evening and while they’re out he completely leave them on their own. Never calls them to treats or watches the skies for them. I have not seen them bully him or anything he just doesn’t seem to care about them. Should I rehome him? I’m at the end of my rope because we get a lot of hawks where I live and a good rooster to sound the alarm is super important.

Some roosters are just better flock masters than others. If he is 2 years old, it is unlikely that his behavior will change.
