rooster not doing his job?

i have 5 barred rock pullets that are not laying yet. 2 barred rock hens that are laying and 1 barred rock rooster (told be be about 18 months old.) they have all ben living together for 3 or 4 weeks now. i have gone out and gotted two eggs at a time and put them in the incubator. no signs of fertility. have done this a few times and nothing.... iis the rooster not doing his job? is he gay? how long does it take for a roo to knock up a hen? thanks

I think there must be dud roosters out there. My 18-mo old SLW roo appears to be doing his duty, but I tried to incubate 11 eggs and every last one was a dud.

i would have to say give them time it coud take a while for them to get the hang of this new duty lol

Here is the best way I have found. It does require cracking the egg open though, but at least you will know without a doubt. Good luck.
