I have 16 seven week old chicks Of various species. I believe that I have 15 chicks and one rooster. Although I ordered 14 females, one straight run, and one male from mypetchicken: The straight run silkie is definitely going to be a rooster but The male silkie I ordered doesn't sound or look like the other silkie so I am not sure that he is actually a male yet (but that is for another post). Anyways, my issue is that all the chickens except for the straight run (rooster) find their way into the coop by themselves. This poor little guy has a fit and Doesn't go in with the others. He ends up in the corner of the run chirping in a panic until we can get a hold of him and put him in. I noticed that the last two weeks we had them in the Brooder he was also the only one that refused to roost or huddle with the other chickens and we do this seem very lonely chirping, walking around routine. Can anybody help me figure out what is wrong with him? They have never picked on him and his isn't the only smaller breed since we have another silkie, some polish, Cochins, marans, welsummer, Easter eggers, and Wyandottes.
