Hello and good morning not sure if this is the place to post but I've noticed a rooster I recently bought is very light almost as light as a feather he is not extremely skinny but he weighs about 2 pounds and 6 ounces i feel h should be at least 3.4 as he is a gamecock he is very handsome but I notice when I manipulate him he barley has food in his crop which for me isn't good I was wondering what could it be that h does not eat he is very active super healthy looking i already dewormed him last week but still no eating and I was wondering is there a way I could get him to eat more or a way to stimulate him to eat thank you in advance

Since he is a new bird, are there any other birds preventing him from eating?
Have you closely inspected him for lice and/or mites, especially around the vent area?
What did you worm him with?
I have him with a hen but she as well eats very little and always leaves enough for him to indulge I have not inspected but I sprayed him with bronco about an hour ago and I wormed him with wormall

Are you rationing the feed to both birds? If so, consider giving them more feed.
Also, you can try giving both of them plain boiled white rice mixed with buttermilk. The cooked white rice looks like maggots and both birds should scoff it up. It will also help settle their digestive tract. The buttermilk will coat the digestive tract and deter coccidiosis. It is also an excellent probiotic, better than yogurt which tends to run out the rear end.

I usually give them like half a cup to all pairs but thank for the info I never knew about that it's new to me

What type of feed are you feeding? I usually provide an 18-20% protein feed for all my birds.
Overall, I don't think he looks too bad.
My GF do not eat as much as my layer or dual-purpose chickens do. If you are giving a nutritionally balanced feed, fed free choice and he and the hen both are eating and food is left in their cup, then theoretically they are both getting enough to eat.
You mention he's very active, if something was wrong he wouldn't be very active.
What line is he supposed to be and how old? His spurs give him a little age, but he looks to be on the small side so he may not be as underweight as you think.

@centrarchid and @sdm111 may want to chime in.

Currently I'm providing 30%protein feed and a grain mix called ganador

He is active since he tries to kill me at every turn lol

He doesn't really have a line since in Puerto Rico we don't work with lines like hatch or sweater we breed mostly random I'd say like a good rooster with a good hen ,i suppose he should be about s year and a half at least since he's already dubbed completely

He is about the same size as an average game cock here

Almost same size maybe s little bit taller but he weighs 3.6

If you haven't had him long, then give him time to see if he fills out more.
Weigh him a few times a week to see if he's gaining/losing/staying the same.

You don't want him to put on weight fast, 30% protein is a bit rich, but if that's what you normally use and cut it with the rice/grain, then I wouldn't change anything.

Active is good! He may calm down as he gets to know you or maybe not, time will tell on that one too.

Alright I see thanks for that tip I guess I should just wait I was just surprised since I bought him and all 3 brothers of his they put on good weight eat alright and seem very tight so I was surprised when I put him on a stick and he just fell off

By cut with rice/grain what do you mean that I should.redice the intake of grain?

He does seem much more calm as I go in to feed and manipulate him ofc there is still that moment when he'll peck or try to kick me

Do you mean he can't roost?
Get some photos of him standing by himself and the bottoms of his feet, poop too.

If your feed is 30% protein, then I wouldn't necessarily cut out the rice/grain.
Feed him like you do your other roosters.
