Hi-- first time poster here
frow.gif

I would greatly appreciate some input. We picked up 2 straight-run BL Wyandottes, both about 4 months old now. One of the 2, Little Jugdish, is certainly a cockerel. We aren't allowed roosters here in the city limits but I have been controlling the time he crows (he sleeps separately in a dark shed) and my neighbors don't mind. But obviously we couldn't keep 2 roos..

This morning I heard his sister Princess Leia crowing immediately after he would crow, then he would crow, repeat. Is she mimicking him? Or do I have 2 roos?!

FWIW, P. Leia (the hen in question) is at the top of the pecking order with the other girls. I have also have 4 (2 Speckled Sussex and 2 California Whites-- not pictured) 3 year old pullets and she is nearly the same size. I'm not sure if BL Wyandottes are naturally larger.

LJ's comb was pecked by his "sister" upon returning to the coop in the morning. Also pictured 5 month old Barred Rocks hen Jigglypuff

Thanks in advance!

Those two Splash Laced Wyandottes in the first picture are both roosters.

Oh dear. My daughters will be crushed.. I was just observing them and realized Little Jugdish stays with the original 4 hens, and Leia stays with the newest 5 in a different part of the yard.

Now to decide which one to return. (the lady we purchased them from accepts returns for roos) Thanks for your help!
