Rooster or hen buff?

Sorry, that is a rooster. It's comb and wattles are large, it's true, but the real giveaway is the redness of them at 14 weeks. Pullets don't get that red till they're ready to lay, more like 24 weeks.

That's what I was afraid of.... Are buff Roos typically nice or aggressive?
I did lots of research before I got my cockerel, a Splash Orpington. Orpingtons are very docile. It came down to them or Brahma's. My wife had a traumatic experience with a rooster as a child, so I needed a docile breed and settled on Orpington. "Pig Pen", as we call him is very docile. Has not shown any aggression, but at the same time we respect his place in the flock. My wife can even pick him up and carry him around. He is almost 20 weeks old and weighs about 8lbs. His dad was a large bird, about 13lbs from what I could tell. Give him respect and learn his signs and you will have a great working relationship.

oh yea thats a roo.. Nice looking too.

. Hope you can keep a roo when you live. I can't. I'm going to be really sad when I have to give up Speckles, my Barred Rock 6 week cockerel
