I have three chickens that are about 6 weeks old. I have two "regular" chickens, and a polish chicken. My tan chicken has a significantly larger comb than the others. I am unsure if this means that it is a rooster, or maybe just a different breed. Also, how will I be able to tell with my polish other than it crowing?

The combs can help determine which one it is, but are not always accurate. You can tell for sure by looking at the saddle feathers - pointy for boy, round like petals for girl :)

it's hard to say without seeing, for the one with the large comb. could you get a picture?

It could just be breed that is making the comb bigger, or it could be a boy.

these birds wont' have the pointy saddle feathers even if they are cockerels, at this age. Those male specific saddle feathers come in at 12 weeks, when they hit puberty. Right now, at 8 weeks they're still in their juvenile plumage.

If the breeds are wrong on any of these, let me know!!
