People are giving me a lot of feedback about my chicken.
I keep hearing rooster but then hen.
I've looked alot in to this and feel she is a hen. She is nothing like my rooster Sarge, I've never heard a crow from her. She does not have spurs. I'm just very confused.
Everyone is saying because she has some green on her tail and a very red comb. She is almost 4 months old

Hi there, welcome to BYC! :frow

Lots of hens have green iridescence in their black feathers. Is the Speckled Sussex the one you call Sarge?

Anyways the shape of the saddle feathers tell the whole story, and I can see them coming in pointy on your bird in question. You do indeed have a cockerel there, regardless of current behavior as all birds are individuals...

ETA: 4 months old is early for spurs. Hens can grow spurs and even crow. And roosters can sing the egg song. :)

Yes the speckled Sussex is Sarge he is my rooster.
The one in question, We call Little O.G ( long story lol ) you think would is possibly a rooster? I'm very new to the chicken world, and when I got the 6 chickens I bought them sexed I wanted all girls.
I'm just question my self, Little O.G is not a rooster but since so many people have told me yes I'm just very confused.
And I've seen some RIR with her looks-

Little O.G. won't be a rooster, technically until one year old. Prior to that he is a cockerel. These terms are mostly important when discussing behavioral issues.

Your first pic shows the pointy saddle feathers very clearly and on the only one of the two who is red. You can continue to doubt, but you should understand that most hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy on their sexing (some as low as 80%). They will refund you $, but you still have to find a home for the bird. Some feed stores will take roosters back as a courtesy to their patrons but many will not do anything to help.

If he wasn't yet showing male saddle feathers I would TRY to support your wishful thinking... we've all been there! :hugs But I'm not simply guessing.. I'm sharing with you real life experience from raising over 100 cockerels... just last year.

Red, sure that can be flushing. Large comb and waddles, maybe early maturing. Pointy saddle feathers... cockerel will grow into rooster... no doubt. :hmm

Some people keep more than one rooster without issues of fighting or over mating. It all depends on YOUR flock and its' dynamics. But that is not what I'm suggesting to you, just letting you know it is a possibility. :)

You are correct that lots of mature hens look like LIL OG... but they don't have the pointy saddle feathers... which will continue to grow in and become more obvious with age.

Adding your general location to your profile can help peep make the most relevant suggestions possible at a glance. ;) For example if you are considering re-homing him type thing.

Wish I was wrong... but the good news, your others all look like ladies from what I could see! :love

We ordered 18 EE pullets from a reputable hatchery this spring and 3 of them were cockerels. Shrug. Comes with the territory. One of them is becoming dumplings at this very moment! I am sure he will be delicious.
