4.5 month old Dominique. Definitely larger than all my other girls (but they’re a mixed bag (no bantams) and it’s the only Dominique in the flock). Just started some infrequent crowing (A couple of times in the last 2 weeks). I’ve read that hens can crow as well, especially in a dominance situation and he/she is definitely the dominant bird in the flock. What do you think? Hen/Rooster? Too early to tell? I have no need or desire for a rooster. My girls have a big coop & big run w/ tunnel surrounding a big garden so no need to free-range (lots of predators around here). And we cannot stand a rooster’s crowing. We have a neighbor who’s rooster crows incessantly and it drives us crazy. Going to have to make alternate arrangements if it’s a “he”. Thnx!
