I have two black australorp chicks that are 5 weeks old, both are supposed to be female. One of them is showing more red on the comb then the other and has stronger looking legs. How do you tell the difference between rooster and hen at that age?

Pictures may be helpful…..most cockerels will get the sickle tail feather and distinctive saddle feathers
 
Starting at around 13 weeks for male specific feathers. I agree, we need pictures.
Here's a pic of the one with more red showing. I've seen pictures of both male and females with red too but I'm not sure.
