I recently acquired 15newly hatched White Leghorns. I have always had brown egg layers( RIR, NHR, Delawares, Barred rocks) and have had great difficulties determining their sex..until the crowing starts. The Leghorns however, at 8 wks of age are a bit different though. Out of the 15, 6 of them have very pronounced big red combs that flop over to one side. The other 9 have hardly any comb at all, and what little they have is yellowish in color. Is it safe to assume that the six are roosters and that the rest are hens???????????
