that's a beautiful bird! We just picked up some silkies today and we thought two of them were hens but now we're not certain. One of the "hens" is crowing. Can they do that? But "she" still looks like a she. How does one go about sexing an adult chicken?

It looks like a hen. Her body looks feminine. Its hard to describe, but she looks like a she. Also, it has normal feathers, and there appear to be no saddle or hackle feathers.

Definately a female.

Edited to add: she's a silkie mix, not pure, possibly crossed with a cochin.
