Hi All,

New to this forum but hoping you can help me sex these chickens. These are two from our group of six chicks. Only one other is sure to be a roo. We are in town, so no roosters allowed.

This one is our biggest chicken. Mom is a silky. Thought it was a rooster because it has always been one of the biggest chickens, but now we think it might be a hen. Both Chickens hatched in August.

We thought this one was a hen, but it has grown a wattle in the past week. Has always been a chick that keeps a little to him/her-self.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

what breed are they? Silky and what else?
I am new to this too so I will watch what others reply.
I think roo for the buff colored, because of feathers around the neck and tail feathers are up.

Both are cockerels - boys.

I can see beautiful long saddle feathers on both of them. Saddle feathers grow in the area just in front of where the tail begins. Saddle feathers on males grow long and thin (remind me of long hair) - the feather will eventually grow long enough to cover the tips of the wings. On a pullet or hen, the saddle feathers stay short and plumb - just like the feathers on her breast.

I'll have to say that they are both roo's.

Sorry.

They are beautiful tho.
