Our rooster is sooo naughty his not hen friendly or human friendly. He pecks everyone. Is there anything i can do? I don't want to get rid of him or eat him.

Lmaoo. Well i also worry at the butchers if its chicken or rooster we're buying... his the youngest of all. His 7months. The hens are 9months and 11months

Train him. Now. Research "training roosters" ... It will probably save his life lol... They need to know that YOU are dominant. If you run from him, he will chase you. Don't run. Make him go around YOU. Pick him up, hold him tight, don't let go until he relaxes. Peck HIM if you need to... With your finger on his head ;)

It's all in the training ;)

Hahaha...well roosters are chickens!

Made me chuckle tho...after I butchered my first cockerel and learned what the testes look like, the next time I cut up a grocery bird..... there they were, boy bird.

Are you kidding? They were still in there?!?!?! Ewwww another lovely reason I won't buy birds at the grocer any more lol :P

Quote: It's not that big of a deal, there's often a bit of kidney,or lung or testes still stuck between in the ribs on the back.....
....haven't you ever cut up a whole bird from the grocery?
If you've ever butchered a bird you know how hard those thing can be to get out.

I guess I never looked that close ;)

Ew still lol.. I clean mine completely out when I process, just thought that's some pretty sloppy work for a pro grocery chicken; all perfect on the outside leaving bits on the inside...typical haha :D

Edit* I stand corrected; DH just informed I do sloppy grocer quality work and miss bits too... :( aw I got demoted ha-ha

I do second rinse while parting out, easier to get all the stuff between the ribs out, makes for less foamy stock.

X2
They are a speed operation and don't have the time to do the job properly. It takes me 4 or 5 times as long as it takes them but everything is gone when I'm done.
