Rooster protecting humans?

Good for him! It appears that your cockerel isn't such a good guy, maybe heading for the crock pot?
I haven't had this happen, but the senior roosters do correct rash behavior attempted by the youngsters. It's pretty funny sometimes; upstart junior pounced on by daddy!

Not ready to send him to the crock pot quite yet, but definitely keeping an eye on him. He's not even 4 months old yet, so we're hoping he will settle down. At the same time, worried that he started acting like this so young. He seems to be maturing faster than he should be. He crowed for the first time when he was 5 weeks old!

The pet game rooster I have free ranging area near house put one of the American Dominques on the run when latter got full of himself. To avoid the assault, the cockerel ran between my legs as I walked with my back to him almost knocking me down. The game rooster does appear to regard me as part of his territory although I am more like a mobile food source. Otherwise the game rooster is a buddy to entire family following anyone around that walks slowly about. We flush insects just by walking.

I'm not sure it's a protection thing as much as it is a "you're not allowed to fight and rise in rank". My lead cock will attack dead birds when they're flopping around in death throes, looking rather like they're fighting with something. He'll also break up fights between lower ranking cockerels.
