Just a thought, are you sure that its not something that she feeds them, or some other factor?
I'm just asking because all our eggs are fertilized, and I've never noticed any difference.

nope we feed our girls the same stuff and there really isnt anything different we do from each other. only thing different would be our water since we live in different water supply areas. Don't think that would do anything.

you've got me puzzled, I agree that it seems very unlikely that the water is the cause.
I guess if you do ever get a rooster you could compare fertile and non fertile eggs from the same hens.
