Currently, I have 7 roosters and 35 hens. My hens feathers are broken and a lot of them are missing feathers on their back. I have tried separating the hens from at least two of the roosters. This seems to help. But it causes so much anxiety and fighting with the roosters because they can still see the hens. I’m contemplating taking, 6 of the roosters and giving them their own space in a separate area. But keep one rooster with the hens for protection. I don’t know why, but I am doubting my decision because when they are well-behaved (while roosting) everybody seems like they like each other. Maybe it’s just me?
Any advice would be welcome. Please be nice to me though. I overthink everything and all of my birds are pets.

Last year I added 2 cockerels so I could raise my own chicks but they competed and overmated the hens. Getting rid of one was hard but I found him a new home last week. Now I have the flock I wanted and my hens are content! Unfortunately they won't regrow new feathers (for the ones they broke) until their next molt. They look a mess!

I see no advantage of keeping 2-3 roosters (in the flock) if they're only kept for pets. Multiple roosters will mate each hen multiple x daily

You can't keep 7 young roosters contained in a coop and run with 35 hens. You'd stay busy breaking up bloody fights from daylight to dark.
