Rooster Rash

Two of my layers have serious rooster rash.

We have an extra rabbit hutch at the moment so we quarantined these girls to heal. We were afraid that the other chickens would start to peck at them and make things worse.

Did we do the right thing and take them away from the main stream of things?

I don't know how many roosters and hens you have , but what you might want to do is get rid of some roosters or seperate the roosters from the hens for a while. By leaving the roosters in there and removing the two hens like you did what will probably happen is the rest of the hens will get ridden more so you will end up with more hens in the same situation.

Its just one rooster. The others are way too young yet. Was thinking about putting him up in the daytime goat paddock and feed and house him there. This Catalina is huge. He comes up to my knee and I am 5'9.
