How can you be sure his new owner will not eat him? That is if you can find anyone to take him. They may keep him alive, but many owners do not take proper care of their chickens, and he could have a lifetime of misery. If you butcher him you know his fate. That's just part of chicken keeping, and needs to be taken into consideration before getting into keeping chickens.
