Rooster seems ill, how do I help him?

I just checked his vent. The feathers around it are matted and yellowish, and I did see 2 greyish mites.

You may want to give him a clean-up, wash his bum in warm soapy water, work out any poop that's gathered in the feathers. Wet feathers also allow you to inspect the vent and surrounding skin/tissues for any problems you may have.

If you found mites/lice, then treat him with a Permethrin based poultry spray or dust.

We'll get some from the feed store in town tomorrow. Thank you.

Wyorp Rock has given you excellent advice about the permethrin for lice and mites, and if you Google "lice and mites in poultry," there are some good links to read from TheChickenChick.com and UC-ANR about identification and how often to treat.
Also the Corid is the same concentration for all-- each age chicken drinks the amount for it's size.

Hi @CelticArche How is your rooster doing?
I bathed him with soapy water and sprinkled permethrin dust on him. I also put corid in his water along with electrolytes and vitamins. I found a sore he opened on himself sometime while I was waiting for him to dry from the bath, and I sprayed that with Blu-Kote before applying the dust. He's still very thin and pale looking, but he's chatty and looking attentive. I've given him some of the chick feed in case he needs some extra protein to help him get better.

We also sprayed the pen down with soapy water and dusted the wood with wood ash, then mixed the rest of the wood ash with some sand and laid it down all over the cage for the rest to dig and bath in. I also put corid and electrolytes/vitamins in THEIR water, just to be safe. I just cleaned Goody's quarantine pen. Yesterday his poop was watery, but the chicken poo page I have says that can be accounted for by extra water intake.

Don't mix the Corid with electrolytes and vitamins. Make the Corid water the only water available during your treatment period. After the 5-7days of Corid, then offer poultry vitamins.

Thanks. I fixed that.

Here are some pictures of Goody today:

He is a cute little fella:)

I see what you mean now about having dry white-ish looking skin on his comb and face.
It looks like he may have Favus which is fungal infection (like ringworm). You can apply and anti-fungal cream (Lotrimin, Tinactin or similar) to the affected areas to help clear that up.
