Everynow and then, I'll see my Americauna rooster sitting in a nesting box, and he clucks, and then an americauna hen, the same age as he is, (im not shur what age, but they aren't old farts:p) climbs in with him, and they just sit there for a few minuets. I'm not worried or anything, but i thought it was weird

. Anybody got any ideas why he does this?

He's just being a good rooster and trying to show them where he thinks are good places to lay. My roo does this too occasionally, although more so when he was younger. It was a bit amusing watching him trying to arrange himself in the nest box with his big tail and all! Not quite as good a fit as for the hens!

I love it when the roosters do that! They are being loving mates and helping their hens make a nice nest. Once a had a bantam turkin rooster and when his hen would make her braaawww braaaaaaawwww need-to-lay-an-egg noise he would come flying (once he even flew from my front yard over my head to my back yard) to help his hen make a nest. You have a friendly rooster in the making! Good luck!

I wish I'd taken a picture of my Jersey Giant rooster sitting in the nestbox while the Orpington and EE hens looked on. I was halfway wondering if he'd get stuck.
