Rooster Sitting On Eggs

Hello,
I am a little new to this chicken raising thing but I love it and need some advice. I have recently aquired a Rhode Island Red Rooster. He has joined my flock just fine and has been with us a couple of weeks but he keeps running the hens out of their nest of a morning. I also found him sitting on an egg in the corner under the nesting boxes today! What is this rooster doing? Is this normal behavior? What should I do?

I am very sure he is a rooster. He has been crowing every since he has been here and he is a year old. He is a rooster. Maybe a Mr. Mom, not sure about that.
