Rhode Island Red Rooster is 14 months. Has been healthy. Great protector and not mean. I was out of town and when I got back and am looking him over good today, one spurs is black and deformed looking for lack of better descriptor. He has some minor marks on his comb like he had a scuffle but they’re not a real issue. I am concerned about this spur. Looks like a big injury. Photos of the good spur and the injured attached. Thanks for advice in advance.

Looks like he knocked off the outer sheath during a fight or scuffle. Maybe fence fighting.

If he's not bothered by it , then I would just monitor it. Looks to be already scabbing and healing. As the new sheath grows the scabbing will fall off.
