I have a 7 mo. old Americana with no spurs ! Will he still grow spurs or is this a breed that the roosters don't have spurs ? What breeds don't have spurs ?

My Americana (EE) roo is nearly a year now and has half inch nubs and they just seemed to pop out the last few months. They are definitely spurs, just small ones that he'll no doubt grow longer. I'm not sure if there are any breeds without spurs.

My Cochin roo SPIKE born July 1, 2009 still has no spurs. I don't think he ever will.

Roosters naturally don't get noticeable spurs until about a year of age - It's normal to have one without "spurs" at a young age like 7 months. When my Easter Egger was 7 months old, his spurs were hardly even little bumps in his legs.

There are also, though, some strains of breeds with considerably small or "non-existant" spurs.
