Rooster still getting frostbite???

Purple can mean he's excited. Happens to my welsummer alot, mainly on the back of his comb. It goes back to red when he settles down.

That is not frostbite in that type of weather. It sounds more like a circulation problem. Tips and the back of the comb can normally be dark during periods of stress, dehydration, or other reasons. Is it a large comb? Pictures?
