Rooster stopped crowing

He was being really mean, to the point of bloodshed, to one of my hens, so he’s been in a dog crate for about two weeks. He’s healthy not sure why he stopped crowing. Hens still come up to him some so he’s not completely isolated.

Where is this dog crate? Is it by the coop? In the garage? Lying in the yard?
