Will this cause a problem? He literally puts his entire head, comb, wattles, eyes, beak into the water to drink. How does he not get water in his nostrils or lungs, or does he? I have suspected him to have some type of respiratory problem, could this be the cause?

I was starting to think he was raised as a duck. He is roughly 1 1/2 years old. I just got him under a month ago and he has done this the entire time I have had him. After drinking, he has to shake his head alot and he coughs and his mouth gapes open. He drinks alot. It is hysterical to watch, however, I am afraid he is opening himself up to illness.

Maybe try a water system where he can't fit his whole head into the water or is too shallow to do so? Its still pretty funny though.

Strange. You might want to get him one of those waterers with the metal ball in the end of a tube, like you use for rabbits and guinea pigs and see if it clears up his respiratory problem. I used a small one for my chicks and they took to it immediately.
