My rooster has a swollen jaw. I do not see any respiratory illness signs.
I do not see anything inside his mouth or notice any smell.
He is active and not thrilled being isolated lol.
I’m freaked bc my flock has been dying 1 by 1
I feel like I’m failing them and someone else could help them better
We bought a home for my Inlaws with an established flock. I waited 45 days and then introduced my 6 year old silkies
-About a week later the first passed. She was from the established flock. She has exhibited signs of vent gleet, which I treated. I found her dead in her nesting box
-A week after that a second from the established flock was walking upright with severe water belly. I drained her a few times. The flock attacked her and I had to have her put down.
-I noticed one of my silkies standing off by herself. She was very thin and had bright green poop. I called the vet and they couldn’t see her for weeks. I treated with corrid, wormed and vitamins. I syringe fed her parrot mash. When we finally got her in she was .8 oz. Her kidney levels were off and she was anemic. She passed the next day.
-Another Silkie had been exhibiting the same symptoms for over a month. I isolated and she eats but will not gain weight. She is at 1 lb 5 oz. I went away for a week and came back, she lost 2 oz and was stumbling. She still has energy. The bright poo is gone but it is still watery. The vet told me that she was egg bound but they saw no egg material on the X-ray.
-Another Chicken that I was given died last week. She could have passed from our heat wave but she was also exhibiting symptoms of vent gleet. She was 2.
