Rooster Too Rough?

Well, mine is out of here. I was holding my favorite EE today, and she has a HUGE (5cm) area where she has been SKINNED under her wing. I immediately removed the roo from the yard. The guy I got him from is taking him back. The only reason he isn't soup is I promised the guy I got him from that I would keep him for a pet, no slaughtering. He is actually a pretty nice rooster, and I could wait out the loss of feathers on the back, but this is ridiculous. He is just too rough with the girls!

here I was wondering if its just spring fever, my boys are loveing 3 of my girls wayyy too much,( have 14 girls to 2 roo's ) they now have bare backs again, and its still too cold up here. Would put them back in the boys pen again but the other roos were trying to kill them , thats why they are back in with the girls and have been since the fall. The boys are slated for freezer camp this spring ( or as soon as I find someone to do it ) so could it just be spring fever?

We have one hen out of the 17 that was up in a pine tree in the yard for the past week. I caught her and put her back in the coop and she was running into the walls so I let her out. But I had to put her back in due to the 6" of snow and ice rain we are getting. I guess her sanity and eggs are worth more than a nasty rooster.

I totally agree. Our hen was doing the same thing, and I think one of her eyes is not quite right, so she's living with the ducks until we figure out where the rooster is going. She seems pretty happy there...

Our roo is a gentleman with the ladies most of the time, though he was always grabbing (though not cutting) his favorite hen by her comb. When she went broody at just six and a half months we all swore it was to get a break from lover boy! She in the garage with her peeps and he gets so full of himself when he hears her clucking in there - the reunion this spring should prove interesting...
