Rooster treading hen bare

well I made my first fleece hen jacket like Ellas!! I cut up a fleece hoodie, using the sleeve part and the cuff which is double thickness and lays on her back near her tail end. And as soon as I set my hen down the roo promptly demonstrated its use. lol. worked like a charm. I have to tweak the fit alittle more but it stayed on and seemed not to bother my hen. She even took a dust bath! I then tried it on the other roos girls, and he also quickly showed his appreciation for fashion. It was very rewarding. Thanks DonnaIL and Ella! Also to add, I used Ella's second design, but don't have the tail hole. I think I will try to get better measurements and make another with the tail hole. Oh, btw - it is very fun to dress up a chicken. LMAO. (I'm so glad they were good about it)

Thanks everyone for your input, I am going to go make my girls some outfits now.

I have 3 hens with feathers picked from above their tails...I put vaseline on the other day, and they liked it so picked even more! I had one that I separated last month and her feathers grew back, they had her in the bushes and picked her bloody again, I had to re home her...after 5 weeks, they never left her alone, very sad. I'm gonna try to make these!! But how hard is it to get over their wings???? Seems like they would fight it?

hello
I just read your 2007 post showing how to make the fleece jackets/saddles for hens, was wondering if you ever had trouble with roosters plucking hen's neck feathers and if you ever tried to make a bonnet/hat to protect their necks/heads?

I would love info on that too, my Minorca is bald on her back and her head, and 2 others just bald on the back. I am getting rid of my roo for now. I will replace him in the spring and bring in 4 more hens.
