we have four hens and a rooster that flew into the yard during the peak of winter. He is hurting the hens when he jumps their bones and I have ordered two "chicken saddles" meanwhile Frieda the gal he likes the most has become terrified of him and does not want to leave the hen house as the others chase her down. She usually hides from them but I have been picking her up so she runs to me and I end up holding her or locking her up so she is safe. I need to know if I should get rid of this rooster that blew in or if the other hens will continue to pick on her. The other hens have the same feathers missing on their backs but not to the degree Frieda does. HELP I was also told if I put some vic vapor rub on the hens the rooster would back off which I have tried and it did work but I am wanting to put it on the saddles when they arrive rather than their feathers.
