My old rooster is unable to swallow as normal. He seems starving the way he takes food from me. I managed to feel his keel and he is really skinny.
The past three days I have been hand feeding him food completely softened in warm yoghurt, probiotics, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, soft scrambled eggs. He eats voraciously but needs to pause in order to "get it down".
Yesterday, after about 20 minutes of feeding him his mush, he attacked the pellets with vigor and seemed to keep most of them down.
I did smell the sour smell that indicated sour crop, and I think it was a little less today on Day 3 of the yoghurt mush.
The rest of the flock are in great shape, but I have started them on a preventive dose of Corid and ACV.
He is not lethargic or acting sickly, he just seems so very hungry. The other rooster has started bullying him which doesn't help.
I have them in a large high tunnel, so they are not exposed to other birds or the elements.
Any input gratefully received! Thank you all.
