Rooster Upset?

Do roosters crow when they're upset? A couple of our pullets hopped over the chicken gate in the yard, and he couldn't get to them as he's too big and heavy now to get over the four foot gate. He crowed non-stop until I got the girls rounded up! I didn't get a picture of him crowing, but he's so pretty I'll put a photo of him here anyway...

He is a pretty boy

I think Roosters crow whenever they feel like it. I made mine mad today when I was drilling on the coop and he tried to attack the power drill. I booted him out of the coop and he crowed for a good 15 minutes at me lol.

He might have been upset that the girls were out of reach. My BR rooster keeps a close eye on all his hens. He seems to have something to say to them from time to time when they are out foraging.
