Hi all

My rooster, David, has a very red vent area.
I'm talking super bright red . It'd been like that for a while now ( 1-2 months). He seems fine otherwise. He is eating, drinking, singing.
BUT, fertility of my eggs is getting progressively worse, last week I had two out of 20 eggs that were fertile. The grils backs are starting to grow feathers again- so I don't think he has been doing his husbandly duties lateley....

They were treated for lice and mites this spring and the three birds that went into the freezer on the weekend had no signs of lice or mites ect... I will check him tonight when I get the pictures.

He also has red colouring on his legs and feet - looks like normal pigmentation to me.

1. Is the rooster vent suppose to be that red?
2. what could be the cause?
3. could this be affecting fertility?

I will post a picture tonight.

Thanks for any input!
