Rooster vs. Hen

I am new at incubating. Is there a way to tell from the egg if you will get a rooster or a hen? I have heard the shape determines this, very rounded shape will produce a hen and football shaped will prduce a rooster. If there is no way to tell from the egg how can you tell once the chick has hatched? I would perfer not to hatch roosters.

There's no way to tell from the egg, and the only ways to tell on chicks is if you are hatching certain breeds that can be sexed by color, breeds that can be feather sexed, or are proficient at vent sexing. Otherwise, you have to wait for them to grow out for a few weeks and start showing more specific gender characteristics.

This is as imposible , as saying that you can tell if a mother is having a girl or a boy by the shape of the belly
