Rooster wanted!!

Hi I am in need of a Rooster. I have 19 Hens and I have lots of predators around like Fox's, hawk's and Raccoons. I need a good Rooster that's about 7 Months to year old. If you have one for sale or know where to get one please tell me. (I live in Maryland).

I'm in Frederick Co. Don't have anything at the moment, but I have 5 chicks almost a month old if you don't find what you're looking for by then. There should be at least one cockerel in the bunch. You'll need at least 3 to cover that many hens, anyway.

So is the concern the predators or the trespassing rooster?

If the trespasser has claimed your hens he is unlikely to give them up without a fight. Any male you bring in will be new to everything at your place so very likely to step aside as the trespasser remains the "resident" rooster.

If a marauding rooster is the problem, an electric fence will work for that as well as predators. I wish you the best of luck in protecting your flock!

I have a beautiful 8 month, almost 9 month old that would LOVE to have some girls to protect.

He is a sweetheart. Without the girls to protect, he runs interferences now for any fighting that goes on between the boys.

He does hang around a flock and talks to the girls often. He just can't access them due to the fence.
