X2 There are many cases of fertile eggs being carried for up 2 mo, this is more true with free range birds as opposed to penned birds. It is true that fertility does fall off at around 3 wks but in healthy younger han's it can go to 5-8 wks, it's not uncommon.
How many Roosters do you want? and how many hens do you have?
If you want 2 or 3 roosters then if you set 15 eggs you should be done, with 5 hens that's 4 day's of laying....
Some chicken math combined with Murphy's Law:
If you want hens and incubate eggs you have 60 % of roosters, thus if you want roosters you will have 70% hens, right?
If normally you have 75% of hatching rate then now you will have only 50% Right?
So if you set 20 eggs you have 10 chicks, 7 hens and 3 Roo's.
And we all know at the end you will turn up with 18 chicks with 10 roosters...... but that is chicken world.
But at the end we all see don't worry about how many weeks eggs will stay fertile, set the first 15 to 20 eggs and happy hatching.
