Hi. I have a 2 year old Partridge Rock Rooster that has an injury to the bottom of his foot. It appears to be infected. He cant walk and when he does he stumbles around and falls. He normally doesnt like to be handled. But I was able to pick him up and inspect him and I found the injury. He is obviously not feeling well. When I picked him up his head and neck just folded over my shoulder and he just laid there. Does anyone have any suggestions on a treatment for him. I just found him like this today. I am going to have my son help me hold him and get the wound clean. As for an antibiotic for him, I have SMZ/TMP 800mg/160mg that I have here for my horses. But not sure of a dose and if it is safe for chickens. My local feed store also has terramycin(sp). That I can go pick up if that is better. Thank you for an help that can be given!!

When are chickens got attacked by coyotes one of them got a bloody bite by her tail-feathers. We used cut-and-heal and it worked really well in healed up in a few days. Currently she one of are healthiest chickens so I would recommend cut-and-heal.

I have cleaned the wound. And it appears to be an absese in the ball of the foot. I soaked it to soften the hard overgrowth of nastiness. Now there is a hole left in his foot. I made it bleed and got some pus out of it. I packed it with a betadine ointment I have for horses and wrapped it up to keep it clean. This rooster is definitely not feeling good. Cuz he just sat in my lap without a fuss and feel asleep while I was cleaning his foot. I took a pic just trying to figure out how to post it.

Soak it in epsoms salt and throw some neoaporin on it(without pain killer) and put him in a dog carrier for a few days. Keep it clean... I'd give him an antibiotic too

I don't know what antibiotics to give for it. I was hoping someone would see this and comment. I use duramycin-10, but haven't had bumble foot in my flock (knock on wood). Find a moderator and ask them. I'm sorry
