This is a follow up from my previous thread about the 6 month golden laced wyandotte rooster that somehow injured his leg/hip and he wasn't doing so well then. He got worse-or he just isn't getting better, I have separated him for 10 days he isn't even trying to get up anymore but he is still eating and drinking. I just wanted to give him one more chance before i even thought about taking care of him. Do you think you needs more time? Or is there something else i can do? Thanks.

If he's eating and drinking, he still has the will to live, which is positive. 🙂 I viewed your previous post and, unfortunately, there isn't enough information to narrow down a cause of the problem.

Bearing in mind that an injury - if that is the case - may take quite a long time to heal, I would still expect to see some improvement after approximately 3 weeks post-acute injury. A vet visit would be best at this point, but if it's not an option, can you tell if he's in pain when he tries to stand and walk? If he's not in pain, physical therapy (like using a sling to assist him in walking so he can build his strength) may be an option.

What does he do if you try to help him stand? It's difficult to suggest an approach without better understanding what might be going on with him.

It seems he is in a lot of pain when i try to help him stand, he hasn't tried to stand by himself in a while. He also hasn't tried to walk in a while either, even if i help him. When he does stand with help he will not put his leg down and starts flapping his wings to keep himself upright ( witch never works.) But i have brought him to the waterer and he will manage to prop himself up to get one drink and then he puts his foot down very lightly. And he crawls around on the floor a lot witch makes him move away from his food and water a lot, and as i said in my last thread it started of with a decent amount of limping that worsened in to this over about a week. Really i don't know much either i have never seen this before. I wish i could give you more information. Thanks for your help.

He will put it down, he doesn't hold it up. And it is almost like he can't balance because he falls over. Hopefully just a few more weeks he will be fine!

No, i haven't vaccinated him for anything, but i am pretty sure he hasn't had it since he was a chick-at least i don't know for sure. It is kind of like his leg is paralyzed he is know dragging it around and when i squeeze his uninjured leg he reacts but when i squeeze his injured leg nothing. It is really odd. Thanks.
